Can anyone remember being beaten with a wooden spoon?
Well there was a thread that was just closed after a member here mentioned being beaten with a wooden spoon.
I broke out in WILD Laughter for I to remember my mother thrashing my younger brother across the head with a wooden spoon that was used for stirring cool aid and the spoon splintering into several pieces!
My brother's reaction is why I remember it so vividly even now in my 40's...
He said, "So how are you going to stir the Kool Aid now?"
I should mention that I had 3 brothers in total and deserved everything we got and more.

Five Boys....My mother picked up anything she could get her hands on at the moment.
Spoons, spatulas, newspapers if nothing was within reach she would remove one of her leather moccasins (purchased yearly from an indian reservation during our annual vacation to Minnesota) after a while any time she lifted her leg to get the moccasin everyone would scatter.

sure, wooden spoons made great spankers.... I may not have always thought so at the time, but I'm sure I deserved every one I got and I know it made me a better and more responsible individual now..... nothing worse than not disciplining when necessary.

I like to think it's a good method of punishment if kids do something pretty bad. I know I sure as hell did, and I've turned out better for it.
If only people weren't such massive carebears....it'd still be legal :|

Slippers (or 'baffies' as they're called locally) and the phone book were my mother's weapons of choice.
The bendy plastic sole of a slipper has excellent ping potential and is accompanied by a loud snap for added shock-factor. The phone book, however, has weight and durability thus allowing for choice of shape and consistency of damage.

I had it easy growing up in these screwed up times. Just got spanked as a kid but the mouth on my dad was scary enough to make me not do bad shit.
Kids now-a-days are so damned spoiled and babied.

Quite a few times, yes. Every time I'd run 10 feet and turn and yell "Didn't hurt!" in which she would reply "Want me to make it hurt?!"
My older bro was the opposite apparently. She's told me stories that she would smack him hard enough to leave marks and he would just laugh. Isolate him though and he'd cry like no other.
Ah the memories.

Wooden spoon, belt? None of those can compare to my oldman's back hand. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a shittiest dad and 10 the best dad. I'll give hime 3.5.

My mother liked to use the paddle from paddle ball, minus the elastic and ball.
